Chuck started playing guitar when he was 8 years old. His dad bought him a fender guitar. He took lessons for two years, playing classical music. At that time, Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis were on the radio and he wanted to play that style of music. When his instructor would not let him play rock and roll, he quit taking lessons.
Chuck did not play the guitar too much for about 6 years. He then regained his interest and took some lessons from a high school friend. He learned to play sixties rock and roll. Chuck and some high school friends started a band called the In-Betweens. They played for about two years until they finished high school.
Chuck continued to play guitar at home after he got married and graduated from college. About 20 years later, Chuck got together with his brothers, nephews, and brother-in-law to form the band Freeport. He has continued playing with the family for the past 2 decades. His guitar playing has expanded well beyond just sixties rock and roll to now include rock and roll, blues, jazz, country and more.
Chuck has even gotten back together with those old college friends and the In-Betweens are now jamming together once again.
Chuck's advice: "You are never too old to play music."
